NMCP - National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme

The programme is introduced by the Government of India. This programme is based on an idea made by the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council. 

Objectives of the NMCP

  1. To meet the challenges for the execution of the program.
  2. In improving competitiveness when dealing with MSMEs.
  3. This programme is launched to create role models by using a catalyst approach.
  4. MSMEs fears divulging data.
  5. Investment in the contribution made by MSMEs is not certain.
  6. It is mainly a supply-side project.
  7. Implement the programme with a Public-Private Partnership.

National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme and its implementation

This programme is to have Indian MSMEs compete globally. With the help of the below-mentioned components and schemes, the programme helps to develop the MSME sector.

Credit Linked Capital Subsidy for Technology Upgradation (CLCSS):

It helps in providing technology up-gradation for MSEs, this scheme gives a 15% subsidy, which can be a maximum of Rs.1 crore. The scheme covers more than 750 products that can be used to improve the technology of MSEs.

Marketing Assistance or Support to MSMEs (Bar Code):

To encourage MSEs to use bar codes, the Ministry, under the scheme, provides a satisfactory registration fee for barcoding also by conducting seminars.

Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness for MSMEs:

This scheme is for MSMEs to use Lean Manufacturing techniques which leads to improving the manufacturing competitiveness.

Technology and Quality Upgradation Support for MSMEs:

To use a clean development mechanism and minimize the cost of production, the scheme promotes the use of energy-efficient technologies.

Entrepreneurial and Managerial Development of SMEs through Incubators:

Under this scheme, funding is provided at an early stage to build up innovative business ideas. The funding is provided early so that these ideas can be implemented in a year.

Making Manufacturing Sector competitive via QMS and QTT:

This scheme helps MSEs explore the latest Quality Technology Tools and Quality Management Standards.

Building Awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR):

This scheme helps the MSMEs to know about Intellectual Property Rights. Learn how to make proper use of IPR tools will help in technology upgradation.
